Metehan Özcan
b.1975, Istanbul
 

Metehan Özcan focuses on the forms of experience and representation of modernist space in his works and defines the alienation of humans from their environment through the intertwining of the private and public. As an artist who considers memory as a representation of identity, he observes cultural codes in his works and initiates discussions on issues of ownership and belonging.

Metehan Özcan, whose works were featured in the Turkey Pavilion at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, has participated in exhibitions in various art institutions and venues such as Istanbul Design Biennial, SALT Ulus Ankara, Istanbul Modern, Milli Reasürans Art Gallery, Ark Kültür, Depo Istanbul, Studio X Istanbul, Hayy Open Space, MarsIstanbul, and Galeri Nev Ankara.

 

After completing his undergraduate education in the Department of Interior Architecture at Bilkent University, Metehan Özcan pursued his master's degree in Visual Communication Design at Bilgi University. He currently works as a lecturer at various universities and resides in Istanbul.
